We are now inviting contestants for this year's MISS INDIA CONNECTICUT and MISS INDIA TEEN CONNECTICUT Pageants, the official event that could send you to represent the state in the 28th Miss India USA Pageant, to be held in Florida on November 21, 2009, together with winners from 26 other states. The winners of Miss India USA in turn will represent the US in the 19th annual Miss India Worldwide Pageant in South Africa.
1. TO QUALIFY
The contest is open to single, never married, Indian origin girls, who have never given birth to a child, and who were born in Connecticut, or are residents of Connecticut, or current full-time college students in a Connecticut College or school, or are working in Connecticut or have a parent or guardian working in CT. Participants must be US citizens or legal residents, between the ages of 14 and 16 as of December 31st 2009 for Miss India Teen Connecticut and, between the ages of 17 and 27 as of December 31st 2009 for Miss India Connecticut. 2. JUDGING CATEGORIES AND CRITERIA
The contestants will be judged in the following segments: (a) Indian Dress (b) Evening Gown. After these two segments, the top ten will be selected, who will be required to present a (c) talent for three minutes. The top five contestants will move on to the (d) Question / Answer segment. Special points will be awarded to the contestants with a healthy Body Mass Index (please refer to the BMI link)
3. DRESS
For the Indian and western dress competitions, contestants will wear a dress of their choice. Attention will be focused on each contestant’s overall appearance, self-confidence, sense of style and the beauty she brings to the dresses of her choice.
4. TALENT SHOW
The top ten contestants from the dress competition will be required to present a talent show. Due to time constraints each contestant will be allowed only 3 (three) minutes for the talent category (NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE TO THIS RULE). The contestants must notify Diva America Inc. of any special technical need at least two weeks prior to the pageant. THE CONTESTANT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE ANY ON-STAGE ACCOMPANIMENT DURING THE TALENT SEGMENT (I.E. MODELS, BACKUP SINGERS, ETC.)
5. INTERVIEW:
The top five contestants will then move on to the Question/Answer segment. Pageant judges will spend time with each finalist to learn about her achievements, talents, goals and ambitions. Attention will be focused on the contestant’s poise, charm, self-confidence and ability to communicate, as well as the substance of her answers. In addition, each winner must show awareness and personal commitment to a healthy lifestyle. The Interview will have one health related question.

6. JUDGES
Judges will be selected by Diva America Inc. They will be eminent, respected members of the Indian, American and International Community. Diva America Inc. reserves the right to appoint all such judges. THE DECISION OF THE JUDGES, ONCE TABULATED, WILL BE FINAL. Diva America Inc. BEARS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DECISIONS OF THE JUDGES.
7. PRIZES
Miss India CT will receive a value of $1250 (Round trip ticket from New York to Florida to participate in Miss India USA Pageant, $500 participation fee and $500/- in cash) and sponsored gifts. Runner up will be awarded $500 and sponsored gifts.
Miss India Teen CT winner will be awarded $250 and sponsored gifts. Runner up will be awarded $125 and sponsored gifts.
8. REHEARSALS
There will be mandatory scheduled rehearsals for the contestants. Any contestants not participating in the rehearsal will be disqualified.
9. OTHER:
Diva America Inc., in its sole discretion, retains the right to alter the format of the pageant. The winners of Miss India Connecticut and Miss India Teen Connecticut will be the only delegates of Connecticut in the Miss India USA Pageant.
